Kind of like Eric Clapton did with Derek and the Dominoes and the song “Layla”, this song starts in a minor key and ends in a major key. It is in the key of A, which you will hear a lot with guitarists, it is somewhat long and as of yet is unfinished, but it still has a lot of substance in it.
Song #8
This is a blues song as well. I tried to jazz it up some and add as much variety as possible. I really like how the song ends with the last ten or so notes.
Song #9
This song has a lot of chromatics in it (1 2 3 4 5) that provide the foundation for the song. I think that the song has a lot of good musical ideas in it and I like the way the fingerings turned out as well. If you play the song then I think you will know what I mean.
Song #7
This song it is a straight up I IV V blues song. To make things interesting, I tried to be as creative as possible when writing the song while still maintaining a basic blues format. I think it has a lot of nice elements in it, some of which are repeated over the course of the song.
Song #5
This song is a departure from the first four songs that I posted. It is in a minor key and has a Latin/classical feel to it. It is not yet finished but I think it sounds good thus far.
Song #4
Like the previous song posted, this is a longer song that I also played in a major key. It is played in a key often used for the guitar (the key of D) and I am happy with how the song turned out.
Song #3
This song is in a major key. In contrast to the previous two songs posted, I wanted it to be played in a major key with some nice melodies in it. It’s a pretty long song but I think it is pleasing to the ear and has a nice feel to it.
Song #2
I really like the way that this song turned out. I would categorize it as king of a jazz rock or jazz fusion song. I think that it has a nice flow to it and some interesting musical ideas as well.
Song #1
This is my first blog post. This is also the first song of mine that I have decided to share. This song kind of feels like a Led Zeppelin song to me. I think that it sounds good on its own and I am happy with how it turned out. If you play the guitar and are interested, try playing the song and let know what you think.
